THE HAGUE IS THE PLACE TO BE FOR THE NATIONAL CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVITIES EACH YEAR

Chinatown hosts a range of festivals, including the Chinese New Year Celebration and the Chinese Moon Festival, which attract visitors from far and wide.

The Hague’s Chinatown has celebrated the Chinese New Year and the Chinese Moon Festival for decades. The business owners in Chinatown do their utmost to promote Chinese culture and enhance understanding.

Chinese New Year
Every Chinese New Year is celebrated in and around Chinatown with pomp and gaiety. The celebration draws thousands of visitors of all ages who have come to witness the traditional Chinese dragon and lion dance and take in the Chinese scenery and atmosphere of the fireworks, music, art, performances and artisan sweets and snacks.

In 2021, Chinese New Year was celebrated a little differently. Because of the lockdown, no physical event took place. However, that didn’t mean that Chinese New Year was not celebrated! Through Pathé Thuis, every visitor of Chinatown had free access to three Chinese movies!
