A cozy day out with your daughter, visitng Chinatown. Strolling around, checking out the gates, and enjoying all the tasty food that Chinatown The Hague offers you. We love these stories!
The ladies visited Sisi Bubble Tea and enjoyed some onigiri (おにぎり;Japanese rice balls) and brown sugar bubble tea. After that, they continued on their way to Asian Street Food by Momiji for some Korean fried chicken and takoyaki (たこ焼き;Japanese octopus bites). The only thing still lacking was desert, so they headed over to Li&U bakery for some fried dough sticks and a pandan cake.
Of course they bumped into some of Chinatown’s street name signs. They learned that Gedempte Burgwal is translated to 填平護城壕. This isn’t a transliteration (a number of character that mimic the Dutch pronunciation of the name), but a real translation!
Of course, one cannot visit Chinatown without taking a photo at one of the gates. They’re Chinatown’s name card, after all! Mariska and her daughter enjoyed the artistic detail that’s visible on the gates. They’re real pieces of art!
Mariska and daughter, thank you so much for sharing your story! Will we see you again soon?
