For those who have already been looking forward to beautiful national Chinese New Year celebrations in early February, do not worry! The festival will take place in 2021 as well. Unfortunately, it won’t be a physical event, due to the coronacrisus. In its place, there will be a large, online festival, running from February 12 until March 12 of 2021. It’ll be an amazing online celebration!
Chinese New Year
Using a special QR-code (to your left), you gain access to the web page of Chinese New Year 2021. Here, you’ll find all kinds of information about the program. The entry code is B6ZGHMLGS, you can use it to log into Pathé-Thuis to enjoy the online Chinese New Year celebrations. As a present, you will be offered three Chinese blockbuster movies for free!
BIZ Chinatown Den Haag
BIZ Chinatown The Hague is one of the partners of the online Chinese New Year celebrations. Because of this, we can offer free access to the festival for all our members, collaborators and visitors. The entry code (QR-code) is in this message, on our Facebook page and on our Instagram page.
Program
Besides three Chinese movies, there’s a special New Year’s program. Here, we will look back to the highlights of the past 18 years of “National Chinese New Year in The Hague”. There will be interviews, performances, many photos of past years and a lot of Happy New Year’s wishes!
The program has been designed in collaboration with Pathé Thuis, the Netherlands-China Association (VNC) and the Shanghai International Film Festival.
Chinese New Year from 12 February until 12 March
Because of its online nature, the festival will be a lot longer than the traditional one. You can stream the three movies for a whole month, from 12 February until 12 March!
The celebration is also dedicated to a good cause, namely the Prinses Máxima Center for pediatric oncology in Utrecht.
2022
For 2022, we hope that we can celebrate in traditional style, on the streets of Chinatown and in The Hague City Hall. For sure, we’ll see the Chinese dragons and lions dancing around Chinatown The Hague, and we will be able to see (and hear) amazing fireworks!
